Gold Nugget
Verse 15: “My son, do not walk in the way with them, keep your foot from their path.”
Commentary
From the time we were little, our parents have always warned us of the company we keep. It’s a cycle that picks up from one generation to the next. What also seems to carry on from generation to generation is the inability to apply this advice to ourselves. When we were young, we always figured we knew what we were doing when choosing friends and felt confident that no one could influence us to do things we didn’t want to do. Even taking our parents and children out of the picture, the scriptures continually pressing this issue. Evidently God has a great concern for the company we keep. Eventually, you will have to choose to separate yourself from some company. As today’s “gold nugget” says, “My son, do not walk in the way with them, keep your foot from their path.”

Those who serve God can only align so much with those who don't serve God. There are two completely separate paths going opposite directions. The ungodly hold the exact
same position. They are not interested in people that don’t share in their values. When I was in the world, I ran with some pretty ungodly
people. I dabbled in everything this world has to offer and found that they
will lose interest in you quickly if you don’t partake in their interest. Your
very presence will convict them of their sins if you don’t join in with them and you will not be welcome long unless you do. The bible describes this as the
Light of God that dwells in you shining on their dark deeds that they do
not want exposed.
Prayer
Lord,
although I have been a Christian a while, I know that I still have to be
careful of the company I keep. You declare in your Word that we are not to be unequally
yoked together with unbelievers. Help me to develop and maintain relationships
with people that have a love for you and your Word. Amen
